Course Description

The Diabetes Care in Children & Young People – Level 2 Course is for those working in, or wanting to work in the Health Care sector, and is designed to give the student an essential knowledge in offering the very best professional approach to the management of diabetes in children & young people.

This distance learning course has been written for those involved in the care sector and will give an understanding of Diabetes Care in children & young people. The course aims to give students the essential knowledge needed to offer the very best professional approach to the management of diabetes.

Diabetes is a serious health condition where the amount of glucose in your blood is too high because the body cannot use it properly. This is due to the pancreas – a small organ that is situated behind the stomach, either not producing any insulin or it doesn’t produce enough insulin – this all depends on the type of diabetes a person has.

The World Health Organization estimate that over 347 million people worldwide including 2.9 million people in the UK have diabetes and it is estimated that 630,000 people in the UK have the condition, but don’t know it.

It is important to try and spot the symptoms of diabetes as quickly as possible, as this can help to prevent any of the more serious complications associated with the condition developing, or progressing further, and this course is ideal for those wanting a good knowledge of the condition.

On successful completion of this course students will receive an endorsed Level 2 Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards.
