The Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare – CACHE Level 3 Award (RQF) Course teaches students about the necessary requirements for setting up a childcare business. The course is suited for those preparing to set up a home based childcare setting as a registered childminder or those who wish to be employed in home based childcare settings as child minding assistant or other home child carers (e.g. nannies, au pairs).
The qualification has been developed in partnership with the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY).
The course is split into 2 units and students must gain passes in both units to gain the qualification. Assessment questions are set at the end of each unit.
Unit 1 provides learners with the knowledge required to work with children in a home based childcare setting. It covers subject areas such as: legislation and regulation relating to home based childcare; safeguarding and child protection; health and safety in a home based childcare environment; promoting equality, diversity and inclusion; day to day care routines for children; working in partnership; children’s learning and development; play; and the role of observation.
Unit 2 prepares learners to set up a home based childcare business. It covers: leading and managing a home based childcare setting; financial and taxation requirements when setting up a home based childcare setting; creating a business plan; and registration requirements for home based childcarers.
On successful completion on this course students will receive a CACHE Level 3 Award Qualification with 6 Credits.
