The Support Work in Schools – CACHE Level 2 Award (RQF) Course is available to learners 16+ who are interested in working within a school, particularly in the role of a Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Learning Support Assistant. This is a knowledge based qualification suitable for all support staff roles in schools, including site staff, administrators, etc. as well as those who work directly with children and young people.

It seeks to develop the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting will need and covers areas such as safeguarding, communication and understanding the school context.

This course provides successful students with an Ofqual Regulated Award qualification accredited by CACHE at level 2 with 12 credits.

The Teaching Assistant – Level 2 Course is designed for anyone who wants to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of teaching/classroom assistant roles. The aim of this home study course is to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills appropriate for the conduct of a classroom support role.

On successful completion of this course students will receive an endorsed Level 2 Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards.

Prerequisites

There are no particular entry requirements for this course, so students can sign up providing they are comfortable studying at a Level 2 standard.

Course Duration & Online Support

You can start this course at any time, and you would be registered for a one-year period. You also have access to a personal tutor who can be contacted by email. Your tutor is available to assist with any queries and to mark your assignments for the Awarding Body.

As the course is self-study, you can complete it as quickly as you like. Support extensions are available if students do not complete the course within the one-year period.

Assessment

You will be assessed on TMAs (Tutor Marked Assignments). Most TMAs consists of short paragraph answers, although some TMAs may have a specific word count. The main criteria to pass as assignment is to prove to the tutor that you have fully understood the question and have answered it sufficiently.

If the assignment is not of the required level or needs an amendment it will be detailed in your tutor feedback so you can make any required changes. The course tutor will be happy to give guidance as to how you might improve you answers. Your work can be sent back to your course tutor by email or by post.

Support Work in Schools – CACHE Level 2 Qualification

The Qualification is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete. On successful completion, students will gain a Level 2 Support Work in Schools Qualification issued by CACHE.

This qualification has been accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF Qualification Number – 500/9964/4). This is a Level 2 Award Qualification and has 12 credits.

CACHE are a national awarding body who offer high-quality qualifications for the care and education industry, making them the UK’s leading sector specialist. Established in 1945 by the Ministry of Health under the name of the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB). In 1994 the NNEB merged with the Council for Early Years Awards to form CACHE. They offer a portfolio of qualifications ranging from Entry to Level 5. This course is purchased through Distance Learning Centre, a partner of Kendal Publishing. The delivery, assessment and quality assurance will be carried out by Kendal Publishing who are an approved CACHE centre for assessment and certification.

ABC Awards & Certa Awards (Teaching Assistant – Level 2 Course)

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. This means that Kendal Publishing has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained.

The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject.
